Having commenced trading in 1982 Viggars Bros are proud to have been meeting the requirements of our clients for over thirty years and cover numerous sites across the UK with service playing a paramount role in our business policy.
The company was incorporated as a family owned limited company in 1995 at that time specialising in the provision of operated hired plant into the construction, petro-chemical and agricultural sectors. This included remedial work following the disastrous grounding of the oil tanker Sea Empress off the coast of Pembrokeshire in February 1996 with the subsequent environmental impact. Further developments involved collaboration with main contractors on many road and construction schemes undertaking work on water treatment plants for Dwr Cymru (Welsh Water), major re-development of the Swansea Docks area for prestigious commercial and residential projects in addition to activities associated with the need to improve the infrastructure in west Wales with trunk road bypass schemes. In many cases these were associated with the improvement of the east-west road links to the west coast ferry ports for Ireland.
Amongst others, past and present clients include:
- Aggregate Industries
- Raymond Brown
- Longcliffe Quarries
- Tata Steel
- Walters Group
As a development of these activities a demand for crushing and screening facilities became apparent prompting diversification into this sector processing materials or road projects and recycling fill materials for re-use on major pipeline schemes. This in turn opened opportunities into the quarry sector including long term contracts one of which was to fully operate a privately owned independent quarry.
Other activities include the processing solid fuel products (coal and coke) for the power generation and steel making industry.
Viggars Bros also supply equipment for the loading of materials onto ships, servicing requirements to the steel industry in south Wales and the north-east of England.
Today Viggars Bros Ltd operate long and medium term contracts providing multiple teams including supervisor, operators and equipment working in locations across the UK to producing a full range of quarry products to fulfil our customer requirements.
